  • Facet of Light

    Architecture

A series of images depicting the human relationship with contemporary architecture,
and the reflections of light and dark experienced within these towers built for commerce,
the arts and science. All visions of architects whose eyes and hands have created vessels
constructed from glass, steel and concrete to house the human spirit.

  • Diversity Mosaic

    Clear Abstractions

A photographic investigation of crystal sculpture as a negative image abstraction, and the diverse color palette it creates by computer manipulation and refracted light. An immediate expression and artistic interpretation, inspired by the freedom and flexibility of the jazz musician's art form.

  • Severe

    Extreme White

The bitter cold winds swirl through the cavernous gullies created by the sheer faces and outcrops of the mountains in Jasper, Alberta. It is a spiritual and awesome place of gigantic proportions, where nature survives within the expansive grandier. The only respite from the severity coming from the misted lower lakes which appear frozen in time.

    Hands for HUMANITY

The Official Photographer for Project HUMANITY - FROM THE DARK TO THE LIGHT,
Joy von Tiedemann, has recently completed an inspiring new collection of twelve black and white hand portraits, each one emblematic of the "FROM THE DARK TO THE LIGHT" theme and reflective of the human characteristics of survival and our shared humanity.

"Throughout history art has overcome the artificial barriers that divide humanity; the
barriers of nation, race, culture, even religion. Art opens the closed door of our
egotism and casts a light on the transcendent qualities that we all share,
challenging us to become who we truly are : one shared spirit.
I feel working together with Mark on Project Humanity - FROM THE DARK TO
THE LIGHT will be an excellent venue to express these thoughts.

This series of hand portraits depict gesture's which are represented both in
negative and positive formats, symbolic of both the fragility and inspirational
aspects of the human condition when faced with the DARK and LIGHT shades
    of life."

  • Life's Battle

    REDefined

A collection of photographic images called REDefined evokes the fears, dangers and fragility of the human experience with the emotional toll of surviving life. The contrast in topic matter is intentional, combining imagery of an historical Greek tragedy with the immediate tragedies and triumphs we experience in daily life. Our lives defined by our own unique journey through time and space, love and death, and conjuring up memories which will all be long forgotten.

  • Swim

    Sculpture

A photographic experiment capturing the detail of nature's beauty and man made sculptures familiar to the viewer in their totality, but less so from closer observation and perspective. The abstraction of nature and humankind's design, rendered unrecognizable through photographic manipulation and focused on finding a new core of meaning within.
